Carolyn Oates
Yarra Valley based singer/songwriter, Carolyn Oates has been described as, “a cutting edge songwriter who explores unique and interesting guitar tunings that unveil complex harmony with beautiful and unexpected melodies melting into a perfect lyric”.
‘In the Moment’ was produced by David Carr, who has been called the Rick Rubin of Australia, and has worked with a diverse selection of acts from Antiskeptic to Skipping Girl Vinegar, Deborah Conway to Kisschasy. Her single, ‘Trash & Treasure’ is a statement about capitalism gone completely mad. “We get all passionate about separating church & state,” says Carolyn, “but no-one bats an eyelid when big business muscles their way into politics. Look at the mess the world is in now, big business has gotten so greedy they have lost all sense of reality. And who pays for it all? Us, you and me.”
Late last year Carolyn returned to Germany for her second successful standing-room only tour playing 400-500 seat theatres. She has also been entertaining the fabulous Melbourne indie scene at venues like The Northcote Social Club, The Evelyn, The Wesley Anne, The Tote and Ruby’s Lounge.
Carolyn has toured extensively around Australia, and has recently shared the stage with Greg Arnold, David Ross Macdonald (The Waifs), Paul Greene, Carus & The True Believers, Airway Lanes, Naked Raven (Germany), The Undesirables (Canada).
